Notes

Welcome back to the LeetCode Top Interview 150 series!

Today we’re engineering a full-spectrum breakdown of Jump Game II (LeetCode 45) — a classic dynamic reachability problem that pushes you to think in layers: brute force, memoization, DP

In this episode, we walk through three production-aligned approaches:
🔹 1. Pure Backtracking (Exponential)
A baseline recursive exploration to identify all possible paths. Great for conceptual grounding but not scalable.

🔹 2. Memoized Recursion (Top-Down DP)
Transforms exponential branching into linear time by caching decisions. A clean example of trading space for deterministic performance.

🔹 3. Bottom-Up Dynamic Programming (Tabulation)
A systematic DP formulation that computes minimum jumps from the back — intuitive, structured, and perfect for showcasing DP thought process in interviews.

** More optimal greedy solution for Jump Game II coming in the next upload — stay tuned!
